Terms of Use
Effective date: August 27, 2026
Things Near Me (thingsnear.me) is operated from Orlando, Florida.
Contact us with the form on the Support page.
1. Agreement
Things Near Me is a free platform for finding events and connecting with organizers, vendors, venues, talent, creators, and sponsors in your community.
By using thingsnear.me (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
If you create an account, post a listing, or upload content, you also agree to the extra rules in these Terms that apply to accounts and user content.
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date at the top when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms. If a change is material, we will try to post a notice on the Site or email the address on your account.
2. Who we are, and who we are not
Things Near Me (thingsnear.me) is operated from Orlando, Florida.
Contact us with the form on the Support page.
We run a directory and connection platform. Unless we clearly say otherwise on a specific page, we are not the host, organizer, venue, vendor, or talent for events listed on the Site. Event details come from the people who post them.
Questions, reports, and legal notices go through the form on the Support page.
We do not publish a street address or phone number on this page until those details are confirmed. For copyright notices, use the designated-agent details in the DMCA section below.
3. The service
The Site lets people:
- Browse events and profiles.
- Create a free account.
- Create and publish events (details, dates, location, cover photo, gallery).
- Build organizer, vendor, venue, talent, creator, or sponsor profiles.
Discovering events, creating events, and building those profiles is free. There are no account fees.
Published events become discoverable to other users. Location is set in the header. Explore can filter by category and date. The Site may show a default area (for example, Orlando, Florida). You can change location. Users may be anywhere.
We may add, change, or remove features. We do not promise the Site will always be available, error-free, or complete.
4. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
The Site is for adults. Family-friendly events may appear on the Site. That does not mean children may create accounts.
- Do not create an account for a child under 13.
- Do not create an account for anyone else without authority to do so.
- One person or one organization per account, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Do not share your password or magic-link inbox.
- Keep your email address current.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
We may offer sign-in with email and password, a magic link, and Google. You must follow the rules of any sign-in provider you use.
We may refuse, suspend, or close an account if we believe these Terms were broken, if the account looks automated or fake, or if we need to protect other people or the Site.
5. Your content
“Your Content” means everything you submit to the Site. That includes event titles and descriptions, dates, locations, profile text, names, photos, galleries, and similar material. Allowed media is photos (cover and gallery) and text only. The Site does not allow video uploads.
You keep ownership of Your Content. These Terms do not transfer your copyright to us.
To operate the Site, you grant Things Near Me a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for sizing, cropping, or formatting), and distribute Your Content on and through the Site and in related communications (for example, a share preview or a notification). This license lasts as long as Your Content is on the Site, and for a reasonable time after removal for backups and legal records.
You represent that:
- You have the rights needed to post Your Content.
- Your Content is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Your Content does not infringe someone else’s rights.
- If Your Content includes a photo of an identifiable person under 18, you have parent or guardian consent to post it.
- You will not post anyone’s private contact details without permission.
You are responsible for Your Content. We do not have to monitor everything, but we may review, hide, edit, or remove content that appears to break these Terms or the law.
6. Photos, text, and adult content
Things Near Me is a local events marketplace for a general audience, including family events. Content on the Site must be appropriate for that audience.
We do not allow adult sexual content. This applies to event listings, profiles, titles, descriptions, cover photos, galleries, and links.
Do not post:
- Pornography, or links to pornographic sites.
- Nudity or genitals in a sexual context.
- Images or text meant to cause sexual arousal.
- Sexually suggestive images, poses, crop-ins, or almost-nude shots.
- Sexual innuendo, wink-wink captions, emoji-only sex jokes, or coded come-ons.
- Sexual services: escorts, sexual massage, strip shows, subscription-porn promotion, selling sex, or events whose main point is sex, kink, or fetish.
- Explicit writing about sex acts or fetishes.
- Non-consensual intimate images.
- Sexual content involving anyone under 18, or content that sexualizes a minor. Zero tolerance. We will remove it and may report it to authorities.
- AI-generated or edited versions of any of the above. Same rules. “It’s fake” is not an excuse.
If you are not sure whether something is suggestive, do not post it. Close calls are removed.
Breastfeeding, a clearly non-sexual medical or health context, or a distant public statue in a venue photo is not, by itself, a violation. We still remove it if the way it is posted is sexualized.
We may hide or remove any content, without prior notice, if we believe it breaks these rules. We may suspend or close the account. We do not have to debate it with you first. If we got it wrong, use the Support form and choose “TNM made a mistake.”
Anyone can report this. Use Report on the listing or the Support form.
7. Invite, claim, and no fake listings
Listings must be real.
- Do not invent events, venues, vendors, organizers, talent, or businesses.
- Do not auto-create listings.
- Do not scrape other sites to fill the directory.
- Do not impersonate a venue, vendor, organizer, creator, talent, sponsor, or any person or business.
- If you list a business you do not own, you need authority to do so, or you must use an invite-or-claim path we provide. Do not publish a fake “official” profile.
We may require extra verification. We may remove unverified or disputed listings.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use the Site to:
- Break the law.
- Scam, defraud, or phish people.
- Harass, threaten, or dox anyone.
- Post hate or other illegal content.
- Post pornography, nudity in a sexual context, sexually suggestive images, sexual innuendo, or sexual content involving minors.
- Infringe copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Upload malware, exploits, or anything meant to damage systems.
- Probe, scrape, crawl, or harvest the Site in a way that overloads it, copies it for a competing directory, or collects other people’s data.
- Run bots that create accounts, listings, messages, or reports, except ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages.
- Bypass login, rate limits, or security.
- Interfere with another person’s account.
- Use the Site if we have suspended you.
Public browsing without an account is allowed. Creating events, building profiles, and uploading files is for signed-in accounts only.
9. Reports, hiding content, and suspension
Anyone can report a problem. You do not need an account. Use Support or the Report link on an event or profile.
We may hide or remove content while we review a report. We may suspend or close accounts. Child-safety reports are treated as urgent.
False or abusive reports may lead to account action.
If we hide your listing, lock your account, or make another mistake, tell us. See “If we make a mistake” below.
We do not run a public board of reports, accusations, or banned users.
10. Copyright and DMCA
Send copyright notices through the Support form. Choose category Copyright. Include the work, the URL on thingsnear.me, and the good-faith and perjury statements listed in these Terms.
Use the form on the Support page.
Your notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work.
- The URL or other location of the material on the Site.
- Your name, postal address, phone number, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
We may remove or disable access to the material. We may tell the user who posted it. That user may send a counter-notice. Repeat infringers may lose their accounts.
Trademark and other IP complaints can use the same support channel. Include the mark, the URL, and why you believe there is a problem.
11. If we make a mistake
We can get things wrong. Examples: we hide a listing that should stay up, we lock an account by error, or we mix up two similarly named businesses.
If that happens:
- Contact us with the form on the Support page.
- Choose “TNM made a mistake” (or write those words).
- Include the URL, your account email, and what you want fixed.
We aim to reply within 2 business days. That is an operational target, not a legal promise and not 24/7 coverage.
12. Events, safety, and deals you make with others
Listings are provided by users. We do not guarantee that an event will happen, that details are accurate, that a venue is available, or that a person is who they claim to be.
- Check important facts yourself before you travel, pay, or book.
- You are responsible for safety at any event you host or attend.
- If you hire a vendor, book a venue, or perform at an event, that deal is between you and the other party. We are not a party unless we sign a separate written agreement.
The Site may include family events. Adults who post photos of identifiable minors must have parent or guardian consent.
13. Disclaimers
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that the Site is secure or uninterrupted, or that defects will be corrected.
Some places do not allow certain disclaimers. In those places, the disclaimer applies only as far as the law allows.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, THINGS NEAR ME WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SITE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SITE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).
The Site is currently free, so (A) may be zero. This cap does not apply where the law forbids a cap, including liability that cannot be limited for death, personal injury, or fraud.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Site at any time. You may ask us to close your account through Support.
We may suspend or end access, remove content, or close accounts at any time if we believe it is needed to apply these Terms, follow the law, or protect people or the Site.
Some sections survive termination, including ownership, licenses for copies already made, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law.
16. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Except where the law requires otherwise, you and we agree that courts in Orange County, Florida (Orlando) are the venue for disputes.
If a part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
