    Privacy Policy

    Effective date: August 27, 2026

Things Near Me (thingsnear.me) is operated from Orlando, Florida.

Contact us with the form on the Support page.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the Site.

    1. Who we are

Things Near Me is a free platform for finding events and connecting with organizers, vendors, venues, talent, creators, and sponsors.

Operator: Things Near Me, Orlando, Florida
    Site: https://thingsnear.me
Privacy and data requests: contact us with the form on the Support page
    Support page: thingsnear.me/support

We do not publish a street address or phone number here until those details are confirmed.

    2. Scope

This policy covers information we collect when you:

    • Browse the Site without an account.
    • Create an account or sign in.
    • Create or edit events and profiles.
    • Upload photos.
    • Contact us, send a report, or request a correction.
    • Set a location preference in the header.

It does not cover other websites you may reach from a listing. Those sites have their own policies.

    3. Information we collect

    Information you give us

    • Account: email address, password (if you choose password sign-in), and sign-in method.
    • Profile: display name, role (creator, organizer, vendor, venue, talent, sponsor), bio, location you choose to show, and other profile fields you fill in.
    • Event listings: title, description, dates, location, category, cover photo, gallery, and any other details you publish.
    • Media: images you upload (cover photo and gallery). The Site does not accept video.
    • Messages to us: support requests, abuse reports, copyright notices, and “please fix this” requests, including your email and the URLs you send.
    • Optional contact details you put in a public listing (for example, a public booking email). Those details are public if you publish them.

    Information we collect automatically

    • Location preference: the area you set in the header (for example, a city). This is used to show nearby events. It is not the same as turning on precise GPS unless we later add that and tell you.
    • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, dates and times, referring URL, and similar technical data needed to run and secure the Site.
    • Cookies and similar tech: small files or storage used to keep you signed in, remember settings, and (if confirmed below) measure how the Site is used.

    Information from sign-in providers

You may sign in with email and password, a magic link, or Google. If you use Google, Google shares the account information you authorize (typically name, email, and a profile image). Google’s own policy applies to Google’s handling of that data.

    Analytics

We use first-party analytics to understand which pages are viewed, in aggregate, so we can keep the Site working. We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies.

If we later add ads, pixels, or extra analytics, we will update this policy first.

Information we do not try to collect

We do not ask you to create an account for a child under 13. We do not want children’s personal information. See “Children” below.

    4. How we use information

    We use information to:

    • Operate, host, and improve the Site.
    • Create and secure accounts, including magic links and Google sign-in.
    • Publish events and profiles you choose to make public.
    • Show listings based on the location you select.
    • Respond to support, reports, copyright notices, and correction requests.
    • Prevent spam, fraud, scraping, impersonation, and other abuse.
    • Keep logs that help us debug and protect the Site.
    • Measure site usage.
    • Follow the law and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not use your listings to impersonate you. We do not auto-create listings from scraped data.

    5. How we share information

We share information in these cases:

    • Public listings. Event pages and profiles you publish are public. Search engines and other users can see them.
    • Service providers. We use companies that host the Site, store files, and process sign-in. They may only use that information to provide those services to us. Lovable hosts the public website. Account, listing, and file data is stored in our backend (database, sign-in, and storage) through Lovable Cloud, which runs on Supabase. If you use Continue with Google, Google handles that sign-in under Google’s privacy policy. We use first-party analytics to see which pages are viewed, in aggregate. We do not publish internal project IDs.
    • Reports and safety. We may share limited information with a reporter or a listed party when we handle a takedown, or with law enforcement if we believe we must.
    • Legal. We may disclose information if we believe it is required by law, a court, or a government request, or to protect people from serious harm.
    • Business change. If the Site is transferred, merged, or shut down, information may move with it. We would still expect it to be protected in line with this policy.

We do not sell personal information as a current practice. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as a current practice. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, offer a “Do Not Sell or Share” path.

We do not sell or rent the directory as a bulk personal-data product.

    6. Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies or local storage to:

    • Keep you signed in.
    • Remember settings such as location preference.
    • Measure usage.

You can block cookies in your browser. If you do, some features (especially sign-in) may not work.

We do not currently run a third-party advertising cookie on the homepage that we could identify on August 27, 2026. Confirm again before launch of any ads.

    7. Location

The Site is a local events marketplace. You choose a location in the header so we can show events near that area. Default views may feature Orlando / Florida. You can change this.

Do not put a home address in a public listing unless you intend that address to be public (for example, a venue address).

    8. Children (COPPA)

Accounts are for adults, 18 or older.

Things Near Me is a general-audience site for adults who organize, list, and discover community events. Some events are family-friendly. Children may attend those events. Children under 13 must not create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13, contact us with the form on the Support page. We will delete it.

If you upload a photo of an identifiable minor, you must have parent or guardian consent. We may remove media that appears to show a child without a reasonable basis for posting.

The COPPA age line is under 13, not 18. Our 18+ account rule is a product choice.

    9. Retention

We keep account and listing information while your account is open and your content is published.

We may keep copies for a reasonable time after deletion for backups, security logs, dispute records, and legal holds. Abuse report records may be kept long enough to handle repeat harm.

Analytics data is kept according to the tool we confirm.

We do not promise indefinite storage of your listings. Back up anything you cannot afford to lose.

    10. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including HTTPS and access controls on accounts. Security is not a guarantee. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

If we become aware of a data breach that Florida law requires us to notify, we will follow that law. That includes duties under the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA) where they apply.

    11. Your choices

    You can:

    • Browse many public pages without an account.
    • Edit or unpublish Your Content while signed in.
    • Ask us to correct information we hold about you.
    • Ask us to delete your account and personal information we hold, subject to the retention notes above.
    • Ask us for a copy of the personal information we have in your account.

Send these requests with the form on the Support page. Tell us the email on the account and what you want us to do. We may need to verify you control that email. We aim to reply within 2 business days, and to complete straightforward requests within 45 days. Those are operational targets, not a legal SLA.

Public content that other people have already copied is outside our control.

    12. Florida residents

Things Near Me (thingsnear.me) is operated from Orlando, Florida. Contact us with the form on the Support page.

Florida has a data-breach statute often called FIPA (Florida Information Protection Act, Fla. Stat. § 501.171). It is mainly about security and breach notice, not a general “consumer privacy rights” law for every small business.

Florida also has a Digital Bill of Rights aimed at very large technology companies. If another Florida privacy law applies to you, use the request path in section 11.

Regardless of that legal label, Florida residents can use the access, correction, and deletion path in section 11.

If we ever sold sensitive personal data, Florida law may require extra consent and a specific notice. We do not sell sensitive personal data as a current practice.

    13. California residents

If you are a California resident, you can ask us:

    • What personal information we have collected about you.
    • To delete personal information we have collected about you (with legal exceptions).
    • To correct inaccurate personal information.
    • Not to sell or share your personal information.

Current practice: we do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as a current practice.

You can send a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request with the form on the Support page. We will record the request even if we do not sell data.

We offer these requests as a practice even if a particular privacy statute may not apply to a small free marketplace.

We will not deny you the Site, charge a different price, or give a lesser service because you made a privacy request, except as the law allows.

    14. Other states and countries

If another privacy law gives you rights, contact us with the form on the Support page. We will consider the request in good faith.

The Site is operated from Florida, United States. If you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information is processed in the United States.

    15. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the effective date at the top. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated policy. If a change is material, we will try to post a notice on the Site or email the address on your account.
